Why am I so popular in the Bedroom?

This past week, the man has been away.

In turn I have not had to go to work.

Hooray for that!

I had visions, of curling up into bed, all by myself, I could roll, spread out, curl up, whatever I wanted...... arrrh the prospect of it was divine.

But due to popularity I had two pint size people fighting over me, wanting to spoil my passion to be by myself.

So with five nights without the man, I had to concede, and allow the older kids to take in turns of sleeping in my bed.

What is it that draws a child to slide into our beds?  Why are we so popular at bedtime?

I mean I even had Tommy tapping me on the shoulder at 2am in the morning "cuddle me mum, cuddle me"

Arrh how cute I her you say, but what about me and my comfort?  Seriously.

I am grateful, it's rare that we get an extra in the bed in the middle of the night, but when the man is away, there is almost an all in brawl over who gets to shack up with me.

Do you have these same dramas?  Or do you have some really cool tactics to keep them wanting their own bed?

Love to hear your tips and advice.

Cheers

Mandy

  1. Oh, this is soooo cute! My hubby is away a lot and so I have this problem often! But I've noticed that if I get the kids to sleep before I head off to bed, I no longer have this problem.

But it is nice when they want to snuggle! But they're just not great sleeping partners with all that kicking, moaning and moving throughout the night!

  2. Oh Mandy that is such a classic. It's exactly the same in our house..little one especially is fond of cuddles at 2 or 3 am. I just keep telling myself that there will come a day when they won't want to anymore and won't that be sad? (mostly!)

  5. Oh honey!!! Jipped! Haha! Roo very rarely comes into our bed, she has to be pretty upset to not resettle in her own. But when she does she always end up with her bum in someone's face, and her head on top of someone else's!

  6. The kids fighting over who sleeps with you - that is so cute. I did co-sleep with them up to when they were each three years old but now unless there is a nightmare they don't come in my bed at night, which is nice because I get a good night's sleep.

  7. So cute! But I can definitely see how it would get old very quickly :)

  8. I like that you have a system and your children take turns! We often have three kids in our bed (rarely the fourth, he likes his own space thankfully!). Maybe I should start a ticket system like they use at the deli! Glad you survived your hubby's time away and weren't cold in your bed all alone! Sigh. x

  9. I'm the opposite! When Tim's away I am tempted to pull someone into bed with me so I'm not alone!I don't but someone (or two) inevitably climbs in
