July Running Challenge - Phew I did it!

July Running Challenge was to run 50kms.  Not all at once, just collectively over the month.

Well I did it, just.  I was forced to run on the 31st day of the month, to ensure I scrapped through.

Time is everything in the world of parenthood.  Dealing with the needs of the little people, domestic bliss as well as contributing financially.  So where oh where do we fit in fitness?

It's only since I decided 'my family is complete' that I truly embraced the idea of getting fit.  Prior to this I avoided it like the plague, using pregnancy as my excuse.

So here I am, still in my infancy when it comes to getting fit.

It's difficult.

Some days (like today) I just can't be stuffed, to be honest.  But I know that I just have to do this.  This can't be a phase.

So the only way I will get fit is to set myself short term goals, give myself something to work towards in the short term.

Thus the 50km challenge!  And I must admit, it wasn't all running.  I still can't run 10kms without small spurts of walking.  It annoys the crap out of me, but as I've said before, I have faith I'll get there.

I'm glad I made this challenge.  With a really slow start I questioned whether I'd make it or not, but I did.

The weather wasn't always great, I had to compromise at times and purchase a casual visit to the gym in order to use the treadmill.  Despite the fact that the budget is a bit red, I just had to do it, I'll compromise in other areas, but when it comes to my running and getting fit, I don't want to have excuses.

  7. Mandy, changed my mind.... doing 50km in August. Why not? May as well while I have some motivation. Starting tomorrow, me, Jaz, the pram and Mordi foreshore... lets see how far I get.
