Last week we made our first Halloween decoration bats on a full moon. Well, our next decoration is Halloween Bunting.
I took the kids to the fabric shop and we picked out some green and orange fabric and some black fabric with skulls.
I needed:
1/2 metre - 3 Fabrics
1 pkt binding (I used 50mm)
To make the bunting we need to make a template. I simply drew a triangle, it measured 13cm across the top and 15cm down the sides. I then cut it out a little bigger to allow for seams.

To make the bunting we need to make a template. I simply drew a triangle, it measured 13cm across the top and 15cm down the sides. I then cut it out a little bigger to allow for seams.
I then used the template to cut out the fabric triangles. I made sure the fabric was doubled over already giving me both sides to the bunting.
Note: With the black fabric I had to think about how I placed the template to ensure the skulls were the right way round.
With the right sides together I sewed along both of the sides (longer) edges. Make sure the top is free to turn the triangle in the right way.
Once all the sewing is complete, turn the triangles in the right way, I used a pin to pull the tip out as best I could. I then pressed each triangle with an iron.
I then get the binding out and fold it in half long ways and press, this acts as the string at the top of the bunting.
I then placed each triangle in between the bunting and pinned, ensuring the tips of the each triangle met up.
Sew along the binding, the edge closest to the triangles. Press with an iron again.
Then simply hang in the desired location. We've opted to decorate our kitchen area. This will be were we will have our Halloween get together in a couple of weeks, it's starting to look a little festive!
The good thing about bunting like this is we will be able to pull it out year after year.
If you don't sew you could always improvise and cut triangles out of fabric and use string. Simple fold the triangle over the top of the string and glue. You just don't get the double sided effect is all. But it's still very much an option.
