My Happy Place - A Few of My Favourite Things

Last week my daughter Lulu wrote herself some music, and then proceeded to sing the lyrics to us.

She is 5, her music consisted of note, not words.

She did a great job of improvising.

This then led to Rod talking about Do, Re, Mi, Fa, So, La, Ti, and how this is a great way to learn to sing.

What are you talking about? - Lulu

Thank goodness for technology I say, whipped open the laptop and you tubed Sound of Music.

We played her the clip, she was mesmerized.

One thing led to another and we were watching the clip to 'A Few of my Favourite Things'

Again, she loved it.

As she got herself ready for bed, we all took it in turns of singing our favourite things, like:

lollies and chips, parties and balloons
mummy and daddy, Zander and Tom
these are a few of my favourite things

parks and friends, holidays and pony rides
drawing and music, swimming and the beach
these are a few of my favourite things

and so on...............

Oh the giggles, we would pause mid song as we continued to think about what some of our favourite things were.  But we always came back to each other, we are a few of our favourite things!

I love her imagination, her ability to think big, her desire to be creative!

This little lady rocks my world.

Do you sit and think about some of the things your kids do and find yourself sitting there with a smile on your face?
I’m joining in with Nathalie from Easy Peasy Kids in her 30 Days Happy Challenge.  Why not stop by and see what's making everyone happy.

Cheers

  2. Absolutely.
They're magical - these little people.
And they kindly let us share the magic occasionally too!

  3. I'm smiling BIG that is just what being a child is all about, when we relax and go with their flow and help them expand on what they originally started, yet another world of creativity and learning opens up. xx
