Toblerone Cheesecake - Picnic Edition

I've been wanting to try out my 'cake in a jar' for a while now.  I bought some baby food especially for the jars.  Although I must say I am on the look out for a fairly flat jar with a wide opening (just saying).

I decided I'd test out this idea last weekend when we were headed for the teddy bears picnic.  Now I'll be honest and say I didn't make up the recipe especially to make up cake in a jar, we were having dinner guests and in my usual style I was 'double dipping'

So I made the Toblerone Cheesecake and simply made sure when I prepared the biscuit base, I put a little in each jar before putting the rest in the main pan.  And then I did the same with the cheesecake mix.

Ingredients

1 cup plain chocolate biscuit crumbs
1/3 cup butter, melted
2 x 250g KRAFT Philadelphia cream cheese
½ cup castor sugar
200g Toblerone swiss milk or dark chocolate, melted
½ cup thickened cream
To garnish:
Chocolate or Toblerone shavings

Mix biscuit crumbs (I put mine through my blender) and butter, press into the base of a lightly greased 22cm spring form pan, chill.

Beat Philly cream cheese with an electric mixer for a couple of minutes.  Add sugar, melted Toblerone chocolate and cream, continue beating until well combined.

Pour onto the prepared crumb base and refrigerate 2 to 3 hours until set, or overnight.

Serve topped with the shavings.  Choice of ice-cream or cream (although great on it's own also).

Toblerone cheesecake is one of those universal desserts that everyone loves, it's easy for a dinner party because it involves no actual cooking and can be prepared in advance.

You can also choose to decorate your jars if you like, perhaps hole punch some fancy paper to glue to the lid, or maybe place a little fabric secured with ribbon.  I guess it all depends who you're sharing them with!

Both the cheesecake in a jar and the cheesecake for dessert were a hit.

Enjoy

  3. Looks yummy... what about a salsa jar, or those new cheese spread jars. They are pretty wide, though perhaps they might hold too much (which is not necessarily a proble either lol)
