Learning to Crochet

If you follow me on Facebook, you'll know I've gone a bit gaga about Crochet.

Truth be known I decided a little over a year ago to have a crack at it and failed dismally.  So I quit.

I tucked the bag of wool away and forgot about it.

Recently I stumbled across lots of beautiful images on Pinterest and my desire to crochet was reignited. I know I know, crocheting..... really.

But what's not to love, here is some of my inspiration:

The reality is I do love to dabble in all things crafty and was determined to master this.  There may have been a few moments of frustration, but I have some lovely people on Facebook and in real life who not only supported and encouraged me along the way but also pointed me in the direction of 'how to' advice.  Man I love social media!

But the clincher, was Meet me at Mikes ~ Granny 101

Pips step by step Youtube Tutorials really helped me 'get it' and now I think I'm going great guns.  I only hope this baby doesn't fall apart!  Holding onto hope!

Whilst it's still not a blanket yet, I will endeavour to finish this baby in a timely manner.  I'm going to follow the edge round with cream and then a pink scallop.

I know it's incredibly bright.  I am going for a random patchwork style crochet.   This is for Lulu, she gets really excited and often picks the colour combo's.  Tom is already putting in an order.  I'm thinking one big granny square for him.

Anyway, just thought I'd share a little of what I've been up to.

Are you a crocheting expert?  Or have I just bored you senseless for the last five minutes?

Cheers

Mandy

  1. Oh wow, this looks amazing! Well done to you! I too love to crochet, thanks to Meet Me At Mikes! I am currently almost finished crocheting a pram blanket for my new baby boy; I've decided to do one large granny square in two different colours for my first try, and I'm pleased with it! I am definitely addicted now! x

  8. I love this, and I'm so impressed! I love crochet too... when other people do it. Thank goodness I have a mother and aunty with talent and patience. I hope you realise you are setting yourself up for DECADES of "can you make me a rug / cushion cover / shawl for XYZ occasion?" requests from the kids. :-)
