[HLS] - WK 36 Beauty - Rituals, Care, Indulgence

Deb from Home Life Simplified talks about beauty rituals, because, looking after yourself is important.  Feeling good is important.

I am trying, but don't necessarily feel like I'm succeeding.  Or more that I'm hiding in my efforts more so than shining.

What am I talking about?

I was never much of a make up person.  And whilst I'm hardly extravagant now, it's probably been a good year or so now that I've been wearing foundation, mascara and lippy on a daily basis. I don't really go bare naked any more.  Not because I'm stylish, far from it.  But because my skin is in a disappointing state, more the point.

I try to hide behind the makeup, but it's no secret what is underneath.

I need to look after myself.

So I will:

# Clean out my bathroom cupboards and do a tidy up, making products more accessible

# Leading on from that I will use my new BB Dark Spot Cream to help improve my marks from old blemishes.

# Remove the make up at the end of each day

# Eat healthy foods

# Cut down on my alcohol intake

# Exercise

-x-

I have been looking in the mirror lately, or more so at photos and feeling old.  Ok Ok, I know I'm not old....... but you know, I stare at that picture of me and wonder when did I become her.  Not only the image but all that entails behind that face.

I make choices that do not make me beautiful, inside or out, and this needs to change.  Looking after myself not only means I'm looking after myself.  My positive reflections rub off on my kids and that is important to me too.

So I will over the next month follow the above plan. Working on the inside and out, becoming a better person. But realistically this is a life plan.  Things like washing your face at the end of the day is hardly rocket science!

Any tips for success for a mum who burns the candle at both ends?

How do we look after ourselves as well as all that look to us for care?

Cheers

Mandy.

  1. I often go to sleep with my makeup on. Really wish I didn't. I would like to find a way to make sure I use hand cream and I really need a great face sunscreen.

And I think you look gorgeous - not old at all.

And my tip would be lock the door - I have started doing this so I can have 3 minutes peace and trying to build a routine around that short time!

  2. I am so burning the candle at both ends, and not taking care of myself, but it's only just occurred to me lately, it's just crept up on me, good on you for making positive changes :)

  3. It can be really hard to make time for yourself at the end of the day, particularly when you're tired and every moment of sleep is cherished. I never washed my makeup off. But lately, like you I can see my skin changing (for the worse) and I'm a little more motivated. One tip I've found works is to put my iPad on in the bathroom and give myself the length of a favourite song to wash my face, clean my teeth and put some night cream on. It has the double bonus of relaxing me!
