The Cake Stand

Next weekend we're celebrating 40 years of Rodney. lol.

But seriously, we're having a small get together, light lunch, drinks......

This requires organisation and decoration.  Of course!

My theme is simple and minimal, a rustic theme if you will.

I'll be serving finger food and then setting up my kitchen island as a dessert station.

Below are some pictures of my 'preparations'

Firstly the cake stand

Fortunately my Step Dad is a Farmer with loads of wood at hand.  I asked him if he could cut me some pieces for Rod's birthday.  I kind of felt like I was going a bit over the top when he drove in on his tractor with the tractor saw attached.  But apparently this was the best way to obtain a flat surface.

I am truly grateful and very impressed.  I think it looks awesome now, can't wait to see it with the birthday cake on top!

Plus below are some additional serving platters.

I think the 3D effect adds loads of character.... yes?

I plan on serving a cheese cake, a meringue and some cake pops on these babies.

And to finish this off I thought I'd throw in some glass jars decorated with twine, filled with flowers.

Simple but effective.

Promise to share more photos of them 'in action' over the next few weeks.

Do you love the 'back to nature' look?

Cheers

Mandy.

  1. absolutely love these, we have a 40acre camping property and have found some fantastic looking tree branches that had fallen but having no real idea of what to use the wood for it has become fire wood. Now i know what i'll be looking for next trip up there, nice new serving platters!
