Last weekend Lulu and I joined in Operation Christmas Child.
What is Operation Christmas Child?
It's a project that encourages people to fill shoe boxes with gifts, for children in need, around the world.
Since 1993 Samaritan's Purse who coordinate the project have distributed more than 80 million shoe boxes in 130 Countries.

We saw a flyer in our local community advising us that one of our local churches was coordinating a collection.
It was fantastic.
We headed down to their warehouse where they had done all the preparation work. They'd purchased all the recommended items and you just had to fill your shoebox with the appropriate items depending on the sex / age of the child you were sending it to.
Of course Lulu wanted to send her box to a 7 year old girl, because in January, she'll be 7. I guess it makes it easier to relate to.
We filled that box like nothing else.
Top, shorts, hair brush, toothbrush, doll, softie, note pad, slinky, whistle, rubics cube and in all seriousness much much more. That box would be going no where without those elastic bands holding that baby down.
And it felt good.
To do something worthwhile
To know that we are going to make someones Christmas special
To teach my daughter the value of giving
